Would a second war against their own allies, caused by Stalin's dishonesty after Yalta have turned his people against him? If we can deny them the german scientists that they took at the end of the war, they don't get a nuke.

Anyway, it was 1947 or 1948 before they got one in real-life history, when they didn't have to divert precious manpower and materials away from a desperate war effort. If they were busy getting pounded to dust by a Nuclear armed allied force, I doubt very much they'd have gotten a nuke even that quickly.

My guess is that they wouldn't have ever gotten one, or if they did, it would have been well into the 1950s after we beat them back into Russia and the war-war was over.

Maybe the added hostility caused byt he betrayal then makes the USSR more apt to launch a pre-emptive nuclear strike some time in the next 60 years. I don't know. "Unthinkable" didn't have plans to go all the way to Moscow, just to beat the Russians back to their own property before they dropped the Iron Curtain. With out getting in to the depths that the sympathizers were embedded for decades we could have taken the Russians I think till they got the Bomb and the upgraded Bombs with the help of some traitors. After that it became the point of we play cold war, and bet who would be most hurt by a nuke politically. Jesterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17973419641321027031noreply@blogger.com
